Cultural Festival!

Hibari and Gaku's university's cultural festival has begun! It lasts for 3 days. They have various exhibits, shows and art on display.

In particular, Jouichirou and his peers from the sculpture department are wearing fundoshi and carrying their completed sculpture (which has been censored to protect our eyes, LOL). The females from the sculpting department have also prepared a matching sculpture (which is also censored), and they are dressed like sukeban (female delinquents).

Their parading is one of the cultural festival's iconic events. People gather around, watch and applaud when the male sculpture penetrates the female sculpture (including Hibari and Airi).

Airi nudges Hibari and whispers to her while blushing furiously, "Hey, hey, did you know? The male sculpture is supposedly made by referring to the current department president's 'form'. (That's why, with every successive generation, the length and girth changes.)"

(The current department president is Jouichirou.)

Hibari blushes with shock, going, "I see!" 😳

Jouichirou notices them and goes up to greet them. "Hibari-san, Airi-san, I'll show it to everyone later."

Hibari and Airi stiffen in shock and blush. Airi answers, "O-okay!" and shyly runs away with Hibari. Hibari wonders to herself why Jouichirou is able to be so indifferent about it.

T-shirt Stand

Hibari and Airi arrive at their T-shirt stand. They have cute goth design shirts on display and for sale. Both of them comment that it was good that they managed to make it in time.

Hibari is nervous about putting her designs out for public viewing, and having to sell them. However, she reminds herself that it's fine even if they don't sell, because they are just for display.

Gaku, Momo and Kyouhei visit their stand. Hibari notices Gaku's entrance and is visibly shy.

Gaku: Oh, Hibari's T-shirt display is here.
Hibari: You came...
Gaku: I was suuuuper excited for it.
Hibari: Thanks.
Gaku: Also, thanks for the posters!
Momo: I've pasted them in various places.

Hibari narrates that she's feeling nervous for the first time in a long while, about showing her designs that are not related to Pantera Negra.

Gaku (upon seeing the T-shirts): Awesome! They're all great! I want them!
Hibari: *blushes*
Gaku: I want them all.
Hibari (shocked): Sorry, there's only 5 pieces...
Gaku: Hah?! So few?
Hibari: That's because it's an exhibition sale.
Gaku: It's a exhibition sale. I want to increase it to around 100 pieces.

Hibari thinks, 'You're saying this even though the cultural festival just started?'

Gaku: Alright! Make them right now!
Hibari: Huh?!
Gaku: It's definitely not enough!
Hibari: Wai- wait a minute! We don't need more than this! It'll be difficult if there's leftovers.
Gaku: You're being a scaredy-cat again.

Hibari doesn't have anything to say back to Gaku. However, Gaku's band members step in.

Jouichirou (making Gaku bow towards Hibari): Take it easy, dude-
Kyouhei (slapping Gaku's head): We're sorry for this kiddo's sharp tongue...

Kyouhei suddenly kneels on the floor towards Hibari, shocking her. Suddenly sobbing and begging, he goes, "It's like this, but please be sure to come to the evening live. We're performing a new song! (I'll apologize on his behalf!)"

Hibari tries to calm Kyouhei down, saying that she intends to go. Kyouhei says that she certainly has to come, and mumbles emotionally, "If the ramen shop girl doesn't come, he won't sing the new song and if he doesn't, we'd lose fans. If we lose fans, I won't be popular..."

The band members drag Kyouhei away and leave, leaving Hibari and Airi to their stand.

Confidence

Airi: It can't be helped. I would feel disheartened too if that were said to me.
Hibari: Right?

However, Hibari reflects on herself. She narrates: I did my best on the designs, but I didn't think that there would be a demand for it. Gaku was able to say that because he has confidence in himself...

Hibari's thoughts are interrupted by a customer asking to buy one of their shirts. She goes, "Eh! Y-yes!" and is amazed that she made some sales. Over the next couple of hours, other people come to buy the T-shirts, and she's only left with 1. She can't believe it.

Another customer comes to ask about a T-shirt design that has already sold out, but takes one of Hibari's business cards.

Airi rejoices at their success and says that they should have made more. Hibari takes several metaphorical arrows from Airi's words (because Gaku was right after all). She thinks about making more shirts, but looks at the time and realizes that it's 15 minutes to Pantera Negra's live. Airi cheerfully pulls Hibari along, saying that they should end the day with a blast.

Pantera Negra's Performance

Hibari and Airi are now watching the band perform. The spectators around them are commenting that it's a new song.

As Hibari listens to the new song, she recognizes it as the one Gaku hummed when she visited him at his apartment. She is mesmerized and thinks to herself that Gaku is amazing and truly unique.

Gaku's Tantrum

After performing the new song, many girls in the crowd squeal that they love the new song - it made their hearts throb, that love songs are nice.

However, Gaku suddenly frowns and knocks over the mic stand, leaving the stage. Kyouhei freaks out and asks Gaku why he's mad, while the band wraps up their performance. Airi and Hibari are confused and concerned.

After the performance, Hibari approaches Jouichirou to ask what happened to Gaku. Jouichirou answers that he's not sure, but Gaku is extremely mad.

When Hibari approaches Gaku, who is slouched in a corner, he tells her to shut up and not approach him. Hibari flinches, but when she sees Gaku covering his face in what looks like disappointment, she goes up to him and squats in front of him.

Hibari: ......A-are you okay......?
Gaku: I'm not okay.

Gaku looks at Hibari from under his hood.

Gaku: Damn it! It felt so weird. I couldn't sing it calmly; the love song. The one who can sing is that pervert (he's referring to Rihito.) ...However, this song came to mind when I saw you, Hibari, so I definitely wanted it to reach you. Praise me.
Hibari: It's surprising that you're embarrassed...
Gaku: It's a new genre for me.

Gaku's head is lowered towards Hibari in a gesture for her to pat his head. She blushes a little in hesitation, then pats his head gently several times. Gaku smiles happily in response.

Hibari narrates: ...Gaku also has the courage to overcome it. I need to be the same.

Hibari: Hey, Gaku. I'm thinking of making more T-shirts!
Gaku (suddenly grabbing Hibari's face): Really?!
Hibari: Because they were sold out...
Gaku: Cool! There, it wasn't enough, right?

Hibari narrates: It's frustrating, but I'm glad you think so.

Gaku and Hibari

Hibari: Sorry for being a scaredy-cat.
Gaku: I hope you can reach more people!

Gaku puts of both of his arms on Hibari's shoulders and smiles at her, going, "--After all, for things such as love and romance, conveying it directly is the best."

He then kisses her forehead.

Hibari shyly tries to wriggle out of Gaku's grasp, causing him to remark, "Oh? That's strange. It's not being communicated-"

Hibari: Stop it, we're in school! (It's embarrassing.)
Gaku: Then, this should be fine.

Gaku hugs Hibari. She thinks, 'It's warm...'

Hibari: Your new song was good.
Gaku: Really?

After Day One of the Festival

Later on, Hibari is devastated to find out that the T-shirt printers have all been lent out. She and Airi are dispirited, as they wanted to make more T-shirts by Day 2 of the festival.

Gaku sees them and asks Momo if he has printers. A drunk Kyouhei hears Gaku's query and says that he has two printers at his place.

At Kyouhei's place, he finds it a mess and sobs with annoyance at Jouichirou and Momo, who have made themselves at home.

Kyouhei: Oi! Are you guys for real? I didn't hear that everyone was coming! Jou-kun, take off your shoes! This isn't overseas!
Jouichirou: Sorry, sorry.
Kyouhei: Also, go and smoke near the ventilation fan!
Momo: Your manga's so interesting.
Kyouhei: Oi! Don't just read without my permission, Momo!

Kyouhei laments that he was planning on drinking with girls from OO Girls' University, and how their art college seems so devoid of love. He then turns towards Hibari, Airi and Gaku, who are in another corner of his apartment, and complains that they are just indifferently doing their work at his house. (They're using his printer to print T-shirts. Gaku is helping the girls to blow-dry the ink.)

Hibari: I'm sorry, and thank you very much. Airi, too, thank you.
Airi: Not at all! Let's do our best to make it in time for tomorrow!
Hibari: Thank you too, Gaku.
Gaku: Not at all. Festivals are fun!

Hibari smiles when she sees Gaku's cheerful smile.

Hibari: At first, I was still wondering what would happen.
Gaku: At first? Did something happen?

There's an awkward, still, moment between Hibari and Gaku. (I'm not sure what it means, though.)

Hibari: No, nothing......
Gaku: Tomorrow, let's check out the festival together!

Airi glances at the couple and smiles happily to herself. When she gets up from the floor, she bumps into Jouichirou, who's smoking next to them.

Airi: Ah, I'm sorry.
Jouichirou: It's fine. I'm sorry too, for smoking.
Airi: Ah, it's fine.

Airi starts to walk away, but turns her head to sneak a glance at Jouichirou again. She blushes furiously when she realizes that Jouichirou is still looking at her and smiling.

Someone suggests that they all sleep over.
