Waking Up

Yui wakes up from her nap after dozing off in the living room while making bracelets. She sees Hayato looking down at her, and he also notices that she's awoken.

She realizes that she is resting her head on Hayato's lap and gets up quickly, surprised. Hayato says to her that even though the weather is becoming warmer, she can still catch a cold sleeping in the living room. Yui is still reeling from shock, not responding to him and simply wondering how she ended up using Hayato as a lap pillow.

Hayato continues talking about how indeed she's been busy with tasks, so it's understandable that she's tired. He asks about the bracelet that Yui was making halfway. She explains that she's not sure how to knot it up, so she left it as it is. Hayato says that it's fine and she should go to bed, because sleep aids memory power. (He's referring to them about to take exams, so memory power is especially important right now)

Yui looks at her brother and thinks to herself that the things Hayato does is bad for her heart.

Giving Out Bracelets

The entire volleyball team safely passes all of their exams! Mano happily announces that since everyone worked so hard on their exams, the managers have a reward prepared - it's the bracelets. Everyone gets one each, to pick out from a box.

The boys excitedly put them on, marveling at how nice it is to be in a co-ed school, how they are going to show them off to their friends who are in boys' schools.

Mukai goes up to Yui and Mitsuka to ask which bracelet was made by Mitsuka. However, Mitsuka says that it's a secret and tells him to just pick one at random. Yui wonders to herself if Mukai wanted the bracelet made by Mitsuka because of any particular reason. 😏

Next, Hayato comes up to pick a bracelet. Yui notices that he took the one she made (the one she was working on at home). Hayato's eyes meet Yui when he glances at her, and he gives her the tiniest smirk. He then goes on to chat with Mano about volleyball stuff.

Yui blushes and flinches when she realizes that Hayato probably picked that bracelet because he knew she made it. She thinks to herself that after having experiencing these various situations, she's realized that Hayato is pretty scary - the way he can act natural, as if nothing special is going on.

Ritsu goes up to Yui to ask which bracelet was made by her. Yui hesitates to say, because Mitsuka said it was to be a secret, but Ritsu asks if she really can't share. He asks if he can have some special privileges, since they're dating.

Yui blushes a little, then secretly hands Ritsu a bracelet that she made and asks him to keep quiet about it. Ritsu happily accepts it. He then glances at Hayato, who's putting on his bracelet. Ritsu mutters, "...I'm so desperate."

Yui hears him and goes, "Eh?", but Ritsu smiles and says that it's nothing, then leaves. Mitsuka goes up to Yui to hand her a bracelet, also saying, "Caught red-handed."

While the boys begin volleyball practice, Yui asks Mitsuka how it was for her. Mitsuka answers that she didn't do anything so that Mano would pick the bracelet she made. Nonetheless, Mano picked one that was made poorly by Mitsuka while teasing her, saying that the bracelet must have been made by her.

Yui thinks to herself that that's love.

Significance of the Bracelets

Mitsuka remarks that the third years will have to retire from the team once they lose, so she hopes that the bracelets won't only be used once. Glancing at Hayato, Yui realizes to herself that it'll all be over if the boys lose in their competition tomorrow.

Yui mutters her hopes for the team to win. Mitsuka hears her and says that they should be able to win tomorrow, because their team this year is strong. Yui narrates that she hasn't been able to do much for the team as she's a newcomer, but she still prays that everyone will be able to successfully do their best.

Competition Day

The next day, everyone is gathered outside the competition venue, but Mano asks Mukai, "You forgot your shoes?! Do you mean you left them at home?"

Mukai clarifies that he did bring it out, but left it on the train. Mitsuka asks him to contact the station's lost and found. Yui wonders if her prayers turned out to be a curse, while Ritsu chuckles at the misfortune.

The rest discuss if they will make it in time. In the meantime, Mukai informs everyone that the train station has found his shoes.

Mano thinks out loud, saying that it's 10 minutes to the nearest station and another 15 minutes to the station with the shoes. It would require about an hour to retrieve the shoes. Mukai says that he will run to get it, but Yui volunteers to be the one to retrieve it.

Hayato asks Yui if she knows the way, but Yui says that she'll be fine, plus she has a map on her phone. Ritsu offers to take care of her bag. Mitsuka tells her to take a cab if she runs short on time. With everyone's support, Yui runs off to retrieve the shoes.

Train Fault

Yui reaches the train station and successfully obtains the shoes. She is now on the returning train back. Looking at the time on her phone, she thinks to herself that she will make it in time.

At the competition venue, Mitsuka realizes that there's been a train fault on the line that Yui is taking. She informs the rest and everyone gets concerned.

Mitsuka tries calling Yui, but there's no answer. Hayato immediately decides to run off to look for Yui, even though it's almost time for the opening ceremony.

Watching Hayato run off, Ritsu also wants to go, but Mano stops him, because it would be risky to have two of their starting players be missing. Mano tells Mitsuka to keep trying to contact Yui. Mano tells Ritsu to leave Yui to Hayato and Mitsuka, and to prepare for the match. Ritsu looks troubled and tense.

Found

Hayato is at the train station, looking around desperately for Yui. He spots her from among the crowd. She also turns and sees him.

Surprised, Yui goes up to Hayato, asking him what happened and why he's there. However, Hayato doesn't answer and simply pulls Yui into a hug. He goes, "--What a relief, you're fine..."

Flustered, Yui tells him that she's managed to contact Mitsuka. The train that had a fault was the train going in the opposite direction from hers. Hayato smiles down at her, looking relieved.

Yui is mesmerized for a second, but remembers the competition. As she panics over whether they'll still make it, Hayato calmly takes the shoe bag from Yui's arms and says to her, "Let's go."

Yui realizes that he ran all the way here to look for her. It's the same as the time he went to find her when her mother fell ill and had to go to the hospital. She thinks to herself that she must be an extremely important "family member" to Hayato.

Match Time

Hayato and Yui make it back to the competition venue. Everyone is glad to see them. Mukai thanks them gratefully while Mitsuka gives them water.

Ritsu goes up to Yui to ask if she's okay. She says that she's fine and apologizes for worrying them. They weren't able to contact her earlier because the signal was poor. Ritsu answers, "...That's good, then."

Mano asks if Hayato is fine, even though there's already no time for him to rest. Hayato goes, "Of course."

Yui excuses herself to move to the spectator stand to cheer them on. However, Mitsuka calls for Yui to wait for a moment. Mitsuka then whispers something into Yui's ear. Ritsu asks Mitsuka what she said to Yui, but Mitsuka tells him that it's a secret shared only between club managers.

From the spectator stand, Yui watches the boys start to play. People around her cheer and celebrate when Ritsu and Hayato's teamwork allow them to score the first point.

We see what Mitsuka had whispered into Yui's ear: she had told Yui, "Nice shot!" sounds like "I like you!" (in Japanese, naisuki sounds very close to daisuki), so even if she "mispronounced" the words, it wouldn't be found out.

Yui narrates: These feelings won't ever have a chance to see the light of day. This phrase, which has nowhere else to go; just this once, I hope that it'll be fine for it to be mixed in with the sounds of cheering, even if it doesn't get across, even if it disappears into thin air.

As she cheers, Hayato seems to notice her voice and he gently smiles up at her. Yui also returns a small smile to him.
