Crime Scene...?
Rikuto scratches his head upon seeing Seiya and Hamayuu lying on the floor of their shared apartment, looking as if they were murdered.
Dressed up as detectives, Rikuto and Hinata determine that this was just made to look like murder. Their two senpais are still in shock from finding out that Sena got a girlfriend. Meanwhile, Sena complains on the side that they're being mean and should be happy for him.
Hamayuu and Seiya continue to lament, but Hinata reminds them that the sports festival is coming, so they can release their pent-up frustrations then. Upon hearing that, the two senpais immediately get fired up.
Start of the Sports Festival!
Hinata finishes first in a running event and Rikuto compliments him for being fast. Hinata humbly says that it's because he likes running.
Hinata then points out Seiya doing the hurdles event. Seiya used to be in the soccer club in middle school, so he's doing well (he's in the light music club now).
Hamayuu suddenly whispers into Rikuto's ear that he was a former track and field club member, frightening Rikuto. Hamayuu shares that he is in the drama club now and he will be doing the grade relay race as well as the club relay race events.
Sena suddenly appears as well and says that Hamayuu skipped the club relay race event last year, so it will be interesting to see it this year.
Hit on by Girls
Someone calls out to Rikuto. They're two girls. They blush and admire Rikuto's looks while he asks them who they are.
One of the girls explains that the other girl really likes him. She says that if he doesn't have a girlfriend, they would like to become closer to him. However, he turns them down.
The girls then ask to exchange contacts and take a picture together with Rikuto, but he says that he doesn't have his phone with him. The girls complain that he's mean and leave.
Watching him from aside, Hinata and Hamayuu remark that it must be tough being popular. Hinata tells Rikuto that he also sometimes gets approached by girls asking him about Rikuto. Rikuto tells him to turn all of them down. Hinata agrees, but says that if Rikuto ever finds a girl he likes, he will support him. The other 3 senpais chime in that if Rikuto finds a girl he likes, they will help to get in the way 😂
New Girl
Rikuto goes off to get himself a drink. He thinks to himself that he doesn't particularly wish to have a girlfriend right now.
Another girl suddenly approaches him. It's a short girl. She has a blush on her face so Rikuto assumes that she's another of those who are trying to hit on him.
However, she introduces herself as the leader of the 2nd group of first aiders for the sports festival. Her name is Wakamatsu Kanon. She asks if Rikuto is also in the first aid team, which reminds him that he got nominated to fill the role by his class. She crossly says that he wasn't around when they were looking for a replacement, so she came looking for him.
At the First Aid Tent
Rikuto thinks to himself that he's a little embarrassed for thinking that Kanon was going to confess to him. He asks if there are going to be any injured people and Kanon answers that there a few. The teacher-in-charge says that there might gradually be more and more girls coming.
Just then, two girls approach the first aid tent, saying that they feel dizzy. One of them starts to collapse and Rikuto catches them, asking if she's alright. The girl immediately goes into fangirl mode and blushes.
Rikuto realizes that she was just feigning illness and is about to let go of the girl, but Kanon goes up to hold the girl and tells Rikuto to support her properly. Kanon tells the girl to go and lie down, and asks Rikuto to fetch a blanket.
The teacher praises Kanon for handling the girl well, but tells the girl that since she's so unwell, she should go home. Upon hearing that, the girl immediately gets up and says that she feels better, and leaves the tent. Kanon then realizes that the girl was feigning illness all along, and Rikuto asks if she only just realized it.
Yamabuki Appears
Yamabuki goes to the first aid tent and finds Rikuto there. He asks her if she's injured and she says no, but she's looking for scotch tape. Her glasses broke. Rikuto asks if she can't see anything now, but Yamabuki answers that she prepared contact lenses.
Kanon notices that Yamabuki's elbow is scratched and asks if she wants to disinfect it. Yamabuki accepts the help. Rikuto watches from aside and remarks that Kanon seems like a pro. Yamabuki agrees that Kanon is cool. Kanon lets the compliments get to her while opening the first aid kit and she ends up knocking over an open water bottle. The contents of the bottle spill onto her jacket.
Yamabuki offers Kanon a towel to clean up. After Yamabuki leaves, Kanon remarks that she's a nice girl and asks Rikuto if she's his girlfriend. Rikuto says that Yamabuki is a friend. Kanon then comments that the girls behind them must have gotten the wrong idea, as they are fuming over Yamabuki's interaction with Rikuto.
Kanon
A couple of boys approach the first aid tent and call out to Kanon. When she turns to look at them, the boys squeal that she's adorable. They ask her when she will hang out with them.
Rikuto says that she must be popular too, since she's small and cute. However, Kanon gets very mad and says that those are the number one things she hates to hear about herself. Her height is a sensitive topic. Rikuto answers that he understands, then Kanon suddenly breaks into a smile and says that it's good he understands.
Rikuto smiles a little to himself, thinking that Kanon, smiles, gets mad, and is a busy person. Some people approach the tent with legitimate injuries and she goes to attend to them. He thinks to himself that he's never met such a senpai before.
Rikuto
While cutting tape with a blunt pair of scissors, Kanon thinks to herself that there are many more people in the first aid tent than last year.
Rikuto approaches her and asks if she wants to change her scissors and she's impressed that he noticed. She thinks to herself that she had initially thought Rikuto was a slacker, but he is surprisingly competent.
Kanon's Hairstyle
Rikuto asks Kanon why she ties her hair into two buns. He says that girls usually do that to look cute, yet Kanon hates being called cute.
Kanon explains that she does this to give herself the appearance of a bear. Rikuto thinks of a teddy bear 🧸 and asks, "Isn't that cute?". However, Kanon is referring to a ferocious bear. 🐻
Rikuto then asks why she wants to be a strong and cool person. She explains that since she was young, she was small and cute and thus not taken seriously. She hated not being able to be relied upon. Her mother is a nurse and she finds her mother very cool, so she wants to be like her mother. That's why she is on the first aid team.
Rikuto says that he can somewhat understand her feelings, because he is often judged by his looks. He shares that when he eats ohagi in the school cafeteria, he gets told by other people that they don't want to see it. Kanon laughs uncontrollably at the image, then apologizes. Rikuto says that he doesn't mind.
Kanon and Rikuto
Kanon smiles and assures Rikuto that he's not just good-looking, and Rikuto smiles back.
Later, it's time for the 3rd group of first aiders to replace Kanon and Rikuto at the first aid tent. Rikuto thinks to himself that it's ended, but he doesn't feel happy as if he's finished with something troublesome. He watches as Kanon leaves.
Rikuto goes after Kanon and grabs her arm. He asks her if she has a boyfriend. She says no, and Rikuto follows up by asking her if she can tell him what kind of guy she likes.
Competition...?!
Suddenly, another guy appears, saying that Kanon (he calls her Kanon directly while Rikuto has been addressing her as Wakamatsu-senpai or just senpai) doesn't have a boyfriend, gets angry when she's called cute and says that there aren't any boys she can date, other than himself. He also wraps his arms around Kanon while saying it.
Kanon struggles and asks the guy (his name is Sora) to let go of her. However, Sora says he can't, because she is his cute childhood friend. Rikuto notices how Sora is calling Kanon cute - what Kanon expressly said was a forbidden word to her. Sora also emphasizes that she's small. Kanon looks like she's about to explode from anger.
Rikuto asks Sora if Kanon feels like she wasn't taken seriously since young, because of him. Sora waves his hand and says that Rikuto is mistaken, but Rikuto can tell it obviously is because of him.
Hinata Appears
Sora tells Rikuto not to worry about Kanon and Rikuto asks what he means, but their conversation is interrupted by Hinata, who was looking for Rikuto. It's almost time for the relay so Rikuto needs to go and line up.
Sora recognizes Hinata and calls out to him. Hinata looks nervous while greeting Sora (he calls Sora "senpai"). Rikuto asks Hinata if he knows Sora.
Hinata explains that Sora's full name is Azami Sora and he is a third year staying at Aoharu-sou. Now that Rikuto and Sora know each other's situations, Hinata can sense the tension between the two boys.
Comments
