Picking up from Previous Chapter
Hibari had responded to Gaku asking her how it went by making an "O" sign with her arms. The narration reads: It's the first time I'm feeling like this - seeing someone enjoy my creations.
Gaku: Your fan was happy?
Hibari: Fa-fan?! Calling them a fan is a little presumptuous, but... it was awesome, somehow. I felt like I wanted to continue giving it my all.
Gaku smiles proudly at Hibari. He teasingly tells her not to be embarrassed and be more happy about it, but Hibari shakes her head, flustered.
Hibari asks Gaku how his live performance was and he answers that it was even more exciting than last night - it was a great night.
Gaku gently tugs on Hibari's necklace (the one with his guitar pick) to pull her closer to him.
Gaku (gesturing for a kiss): More importantly, we're able to be together again.
Hibari (getting shy): Ah. That reminds me, I wonder how Airi is... She was alone since after the live.
Gaku (trying to recall): Airi...
Hibari: My friend. The one doing the T-shirt stand together with me.
Gaku: ......
Hibari (in disbelief): Come on, you remember, right?! She's my friend! (Are you kidding me?!)
Gaku: Shut up! I only see you, Hibari. Let's go and search for her now!
Gaku picks Hibari up like a rice sack (for the nth time?? Hahaha) and dashes off.
What's up with Airi
Airi receives a text from Hibari: Airi, where are you now? Are you still at the festival?
Airi looks happy to see Hibari's message and types in her reply (while saying it out loud too), "That's great, I'm still here."
Airi runs into Jouichirou, who's smoking in a corner with a couple of random guys. Jouichirou notices her and she blushes.
Jouichirou: Oh? Where's Hibari-san?
Airi: It seems she met up with Gaku-kun.
Jouichirou: Ah- No wonder she's not around. Are you meeting her after this?
Airi: Yes.
Jouichirou: Heh- Shall we join them too? Let's look for them together.
Airi: Okay!
The two of them start walking together.
Airi tells Jouichirou that he was very cool during the live performance and Jou thanks her. Airi's heart is pounding loudly walking next to him.
Jou says that Airi's T-shirts were cute as well. He says that the fluffy dog design is very much like Airi's style. Airi blushes and asks, "You noticed it...?", and Jou answers that he can't pull off wearing such a design, though.
Jouichirou and Airi
The two of them go around the stalls in the festival looking for Gaku and Hibari. The festival is still in full swing and it's crowded. Jou gets sort of hit on by the rugby club players who want to invite him for a drink (they saw the sculpture of the male anatomy and know that Jou is the president of the sculpture department). Jou leads Airi away.
However, there's a huge crowd near the stage, which they are approaching, and one of the rowdy spectators causes Airi to lose her balance. She falls towards Jou and gets flustered, apologizing to him. Jou just goes, "Mhm." with a poker face.
Jou: There's a lot of people here, so be careful.
Airi: Okay. It's lively again this year, too...
Jou (looking over Airi): Be careful there.
Airi: Eh?
Jou puts his arm over Airi to pull her closer to him. Airi is blushing furiously. She manages to make eye contact with Jou and he notices that she wants to say something. He bends his head down with his ear towards her to listen.
Jou: Hm?
Airi: Ah... Noth...
Airi gets mesmerized by the energy of the crowd and Jou's proximity to her. She whispers into Jou's ear, "I..." (we don't see the rest of it.)
Jou then looks at Airi in response and goes, "...I see. Airi-san..." he says something back to her (but we don't see what it is.)
A Short While Later
Hibari and Gaku are seated somewhere. Hibari is frantically still trying to find Airi (she got a message from Airi saying that she would be where they currently are).
Hibari spots Airi sitting alone under a tree and runs over to her. "Airi! Sorry for making you attend the live performance by yourself."
However, upon getting closer, Hibari notices that Airi is crying. She immediately holds her arms out to stop Gaku from approaching them.
Hibari: Sorry, Gaku... Could you let us be alone...?
Gaku: Hah? Again? No way.
Hibari: What?!
Hibari (angry whispering to Gaku): Please read the room!
Gaku looks irritated, but turns away and leaves, saying that he gets it. While walking away, he sings to himself, "Ah-ah~ ♪ Not enough of Hibari~ Damn it~ ♪" (LOL THIS GUY)
Hibari wonders to herself if she overdid it towards Gaku. However, Airi looks at Hibari with her tear-stained face, going, "Hibari, I'm so sorry, Hibariiii! You got into a fight because of me, right?"
Hibari reassures her that it's okay.
What Happened to Airi?
Hibari: ......Huh? You were rejected?
Airi: Yes. Jou-san said...
-Flashback to earlier-
Jou: ...I see. Airi-san, my friend asked me to be introduced to you. What do you think?
Airi: *shocked*
Back to the present, Airi frustratedly says, "What's with that talk about introducing me? Does he have no interest in me at all? This is the worst, I'm so embarrassed. I got carried away and misunderstood things all on my own."
Hibari looks sympathetically at Airi, whose head is hung low.
Hibari: Nonetheless, that doesn't count as a rejection, right? You haven't confessed, have you?
Airi (eyes widening in realization): That's right, I haven't confessed and received a no. Perhaps there's a chance he is testing to see my reaction...
(Airi is imagining Jou wondering if Airi has a boyfriend or whether she has someone she likes, and had purposely talked about introducing someone on purpose.)
Airi (motivated again): That's right. It would be a waste if I stopped, huh. It's okay for me to feel embarrassed, right!
Hibari looks happy for Airi.
Airi: Ah! That reminds me, are things okay with Gaku-kun? You didn't get to be with... Ugh-
Hibari: Are you okay?!
(Airi gets nauseous because she was drinking beer earlier.) Hibari sends her home.
After the Festival
The Pantera Negra guys are gathered at Kyouhei's apartment again.
Kyouhei is mad, crying and blaming Jou and Gaku, saying that it's their fault that he failed to pick up girls again. Jou and Gaku say that they were just speaking normally, but Kyouhei complains that it's because they were there in the first place (Jou and Gaku are the considered the most attractive ones, I guess). He also shouts for them to take off their shoes in his apartment.
Kyouhei asks them what all of them are doing in his apartment again. Jou holds up a bag of food - it's curry. He says that they have to eat, since it's their custom.
Momo asks where Gaku and Jou were earlier. Gaku crossly answers that he was with Hibari but he got thrown aside. He's unhappy about Hibari always putting him second and angrily says that she's always stopping him at the last minute. Kyouhei asks him not to brag about his relationship.
Changing the subject, Gaku asks about Jouichirou.
Gaku: Anyway, Jou-kun, you were with Airi-san just now, weren't you?
Jou: Ah. Yes. What about it?
Gaku: She looked somewhat depressed.
Jou (gives a side glance but overall looks unbothered): Heh...
Kyouhei looks at Jouichirou judgingly from behind, then approaches Jou.
Kyouhei: Something must have happened, huh- Jou-kun?
Jou: She was normal when with me. (She then said she had something to do so she left.)
Kyouhei: Eh- I see.
Kyouhei rolls his eyes behind Jou.
Jou remarks that it's unusual for Gaku to remember someone's name, and Gaku explains that it's because Hibari chided him about it. Kyouhei says that it's his girlfriend's friend and he should remember. Gaku asks if he thinks that way too and Kyouhei answers that this is normal.
Jou then says that whatever it is, it's most important not to rock the boat (and keep things noncommittal). Gaku takes a while to let the words sink in, then answers that he is often treated that way too, but doing that would make him feel sick. Jou seems to think about Gaku's words. (I'm actually not sure about this part but this is my interpretation)
Back to Hibari
Hibari is alone outdoors now at night after sending Airi home (Airi is resting now). She checks her phone. It's 10.32pm.
Hibari thinks to herself that there's still one more hour before the last train of the day. She also reflects on what she did earlier and realizes that she bailed on Gaku twice today and hasn't properly apologized to him about it. She decides to call him to apologize.
Gaku (over the phone): Sup.
Hibari: Ah... Hello. Anyway, I'm sorry about earlier.
Gaku: Oh-- Is Airi-san alright?
Hibari: Yes, she's fine. Somehow it seems lively where you are. (Hibari can hear laughter from Gaku's side)
Gaku: I'm at Kyouhei's place. They're excited about the future male sculpture.
Hibari: ...
Gaku: Where are you?
Hibari: I'm almost at Takanodai Station.
Gaku: For real? That's nearby!
Hibari blushes when she realizes that Gaku is probably thinking of meeting her. She thinks to herself, 'Oh no, it looks like I wanted to meet him!' so she gets flustered and answers Gaku, "No, no, it's almost the last train, and I still need to go back to prepare for tomorrow. I just called to apologize, so bye!"
She sees a couple embracing each other near the station. She thinks to herself that it's almost the last train and Gaku is with his buddies, so that sort of thing won't happen to her - that kind of embarrassing, "cute girl" kind of scenario.
Gaku and Hibari
Gaku still has a sour look after speaking to Hibari over the phone. He angrily gets up and tells the guys he's going out to get fresh air. Kyouhei asks him why he's so irritated and he irritably answers back that he doesn't know.
Gaku is now outside and when he turns his head, he sees Hibari. Hibari freezes when she notices Gaku, then blushes furiously. She tries to give herself excuses, going, "Um, I took a wrong turn and happened to be nearby..."
However, before she can finish her sentence, Gaku has already run towards her. He catches her lips with a deep kiss. Hibari goes, "Wait-" but Gaku shuts her up with another kiss.
Gaku says that he also really, really wanted to meet up. Hibari blushes when she hears his words and shyly goes, "Um... I didn't say that I wanted to meet, though." (Gaku knows she's just being tsundere.)
The narration goes: I wanted to meet you even for a little while, so much such that I felt embarrassed. I'm completely a girl in love.
Gaku: What's your deal? If you wanted to meet, you could have said that you wanted to.
Hibari (still acting tough): That's not the case.
Gaku: There's no way that's true. Going out of your way to come even though it's almost the last train?
Hibari: ... (she's busted)
Gaku: Wanna eat curry?
Hibari: Nope, there's still tomorrow, so I'm going home for today.
Gaku: Oh, I see. Okay, then. Bye bye.
Gaku says that while putting his arms around Hibari's shoulders from behind and leaning on her.
Hibari: Hey---!! I can't, you're heavy! I can't go home like this!!
Gaku: Ah- Geez- I have no choice, eh.
Gaku releases Hibari then does a shooing gesture at her.
Gaku: Then, go home quickly. We've already kissed so I have no more use for you, Hibari.
Hibari: Evil! Dummy! Meanie!
Hibari taps into the station gantry, huffing (but of course she's not actually mad.)
She narrates: Somehow this is so unlike me. Ah, this must be the magical effects of the cultural festival.
Her phone vibrates. There's a text from Rihito, who says that he's thinking of going to the festival tomorrow.
