Getting pinned down
Immediately picking up from the previous chapter, Ritsu hovers over Yui on the infirmary bed, telling her, "I was thinking that perhaps, you'd 'mistakenly' fall for me."
Yui looks at Ritsu, stunned. However, Ritsu proceeds to collapse onto her and falls asleep immediately. Yui sits up on the bed and observes Ritsu for a short while, before realizing that the school nurse is back in the infirmary.
Yui informs the school nurse that Ritsu didn't get enough rest and is unwell, though he doesn't have a fever. The school nurse replies that she will monitor Ritsu's condition then send him home afterwards, so Yui can resume her club activities.
After leaving the infirmary and closing the door behind her, Yui blushes furiously to herself, wondering what just happened between her and Ritsu.
Back at Home
In her room, Yui types a message to Ritsu to ask how he's feeling.
She recalls Ritsu's earlier words: "That you'd mistakenly fall for me". She tries to approach his words at face value and wonders if he meant that her request of him was too insensitive. (I think she is referring to her asking Ritsu to keep her feelings for Hayato a secret.)
Yui deletes the text message she was about to send to Ritsu. She wonders how she should face Ritsu tomorrow.
Recovered
The next morning, a fully-recovered Ritsu greets Hayato and Yui brightly. Hayato asks Ritsu if he's feeling better and Ritsu answers that he's all better after sleeping a lot.
The two boys start walking while Yui stares after them. However, Ritsu quickly turns around to look at her, going, "Yui-chan, we're gonna be late, you know?", and Yui hurries to join them.
At school, Ritsu's behavior seems usual too. Yui wonders to herself if what happened between them yesterday was just a joke. However, she recalls Ritsu's expression and tells herself that if it was a joke, he wouldn't have looked that serious.
What Would You Do?
Yui and Mitsuka are in their classroom, working on making bracelets for the volleyball team. However, Mitsuka notices that Yui is distracted and asks her if she has something on her mind.
Yui asks Mitsuka, "What would you do if you accidentally discovered something about someone that they were trying to hide?"
Mitsuka remarks that Yui's question is very vague, while Yui continues, "Would it be better to pretend it didn't happen, or would it be better to honestly face them and talk about it? I don't know what to do..."
Mitsuka ponders about it for a moment, then answers that it would depend on a case-by-case basis. She says that if it were her, she would talk about it, because if the matter was something that could cause this much distress, it wouldn't be possible to just pretend it didn't happen.
Yui follows up by asking, "...Would you still talk about it if it will change your relationship?"
Mitsuka then clarifies, "Are you distressed because you're afraid it will change your relationship?"
Yui is unable to answer, but Mitsuka adds that she understands very well what Yui means - because Mitsuka herself does not have the courage to face Mano and tell him about her feelings for him.
Yui chuckles and thanks Mitsuka for listening to her and helping her to sort out her thoughts.
After Volleyball Practice
Yui decides that since Ritsu acted as if nothing happened, she would follow suit - but if she continues thinking and acting like this, she would fall into a spiral of self-loathing and become unable to do anything.
The team leaves school together after practice. Mitsuka remarks to Yui that the weather is getting hot and suggests for them to buy ice cream. Some of the boys (including Ritsu) overhear and join them.
Ritsu and Yui find that they both picked the same ice cream. Ritsu smiles cheerfully at Yui, while Yui returns a skeptical smile.
Eating Ice Cream
Ritsu and Yui are now walking together behind the rest of the team, eating their ice cream. Ritsu remarks that the limited-edition pear flavour is delicious.
The two of them walk along some more in silence, eating their ice cream. Then, Yui breaks the silence by going, "...Ricchan, um, about yesterday..."
Ritsu asks Yui if he said anything yesterday and grins, saying that he was too tired yesterday, so he might have said something strange. However, when he notices Yui's serious expression, he asks, "--You won't just let me off that easily, will you?"
Ritsu's Thoughts
Quickly finishing his ice cream, Ritsu tells Yui, "I meant everything I said yesterday."
Yui responds by saying that they have to stop their pretend-relationship, because she doesn't want to take advantage of his feelings. However, Ritsu says that she's got it opposite - that he is the one who's been taking advantage of her feelings by suggesting for them to fake-date.
Ritsu continues, saying that since Yui cannot accept it, then they cannot continue pretending anymore - therefore, they should instead start a "dating trial".
Trial...?
Yui is confused and looks at Ritsu with a blank expression.
Ritsu cheerfully explains that it will be a trial period for them to date. He says that, in the eyes of everyone, especially Hayato, the two of them have already established that they are dating, so if they were to suddenly say that they've broken up, it would be very awkward. Yui agrees with his point and considers it for a moment.
Ritsu adds with a serious expression, "Even though up till now, I've done things that seem like I'm deceiving you, from now on, I hope that you will consider 'falling in love with me' as an option; and to also give me a chance."
He then bends his head down towards Yui and grips her hand that's still holding her ice cream. It looks like he was about to kiss her, but he eats her ice cream instead - while gazing into her eyes. He says, "Sorry - your ice cream looked like it was about to drop."
Yui blushes, dazzled.
The two of them then realize that they've fallen far behind the others, as they are behind by one traffic junction. Ritsu tells Yui to take her time to think about her response to his suggestion.
New Perspective
At home, Yui is in the bath and she thinks about how she had never even considered possibly having a brand new romance, because all she was concerned with was how to deal with her feelings for Hayato.
She recalls Ritsu's words: "Falling in love with me as an option." and blushes, then she decides to get out of the bath.
A short while later, Yui looks in the refrigerator, but can't find the yuzu-flavoured yogurt she wanted. Her mother apologizes and tells her that she ate it. Yui is disappointed, but Hayato quickly offers to buy it for her.
Yui frantically tries to tell Hayato that he doesn't need to go to the trouble. She thinks that he's spoiling her too much. Yui's mother then says that Yui can eat the one she bought instead - it's a passionfruit-flavoured yogurt.
Yui decides to try it, thinking that she wouldn't have chosen this flavour herself (she's also not tried this flavour before).
Taking a bite, Yui realizes that it's delicious. She then thinks about something and has a serious expression on.
Next Morning
Ritsu greets Hayato and Yui good morning and they head to school together.
While Hayato walks ahead, Yui whispers to Ritsu that she thought about what he mentioned yesterday. Ritsu says that she could have taken her time to think, but Yui responds that she didn't want to make him wait too long.
She goes, "Um, I'll- I'll be in your care."
Ritsu happily flashes a big smile at Yui and she blushes with a smile in response.
Yui narrates: There surely are many things that we won't understand unless we try them. That's why, if I just take this first step, the day I fall in love with Ricchan might come.
Meanwhile, Hayato wordlessly glances at the two of them.
