Ritsu's so dependable!
Hayato, Ritsu, Yui and (Yui and Hayato's) mom are at Hayato and Yui's home. Yui explains that she and Ritsu are dating (and that Hayato already knows). Their mom is surprised and asks excitedly - when did that happen? Who confessed to who?
Yui gets flustered from her questions but their mom cheerfully asks Hayato, "Doesn't this make one really curious?" Hayato answers that Yui and Ritsu were just reunited very recently (implying that he agrees with his mother).
Yui flinches at how Hayato seems to immediately have gotten to the root of the issue, but Ritsu quickly covers up for them by saying that Yui was the first girl he's liked. He explains about his childhood and his relationship with Yui then, and how them reuniting again made him recall his feelings. Yui is impressed at how reliable he is.
Yui and Hayato's mom agrees that Ritsu and Yui used to play together a lot.
Dinner Prep
The conversation falls awkwardly silent for a moment, then is interrupted by Ritsu's stomach growling. Yui jumps at the opportunity to change the topic by getting up to make dinner. Yui and Hayato's mom offers to do it, but Yui says that it would be faster if she does it.
In the kitchen, Ritsu is surprised that Yui is confident about cooking. Yui explains that when she was living together with her mom, she was the one responsible for cooking. Ritsu says that she's amazing, but Yui humbly says that it's because she had the opportunity to. Smiling at Ritsu, she says that he might find it fun if he tries it too.
Ritsu seems charmed and asks if he can help her, and whispers in her ear, "Just like what lovers do." He suggests that they can put up their act of showing that they're dating (to Hayato and her mom). Yui agrees that they should, so she asks Ritsu to help wash the vegetables. She also helps Ritsu to fold up his sleeves.
Hayato and Mom
Watching Ritsu and Yui from the living room, Hayato's mom chuckles and says that she can't believe Yui brought her boyfriend home. Hayato asks if Yui was like that when living with her. She answers that to her knowledge, Yui wasn't.
Sighing, their mom explains that it was likely because Yui had no capacity to do so. She had left not just the cooking, but housework to Yui as well. Remarking that Yui must have tolerated a lot on her own, their mom says that she hopes for Hayato and Yui to focus more on themselves from now on. She also says that Hayato is free to bring his girlfriend home. However, Hayato says that he doesn't need a girlfriend right now.
Tears
Suddenly, Ritsu exclaims, "Ouch!". Yui asks him if he's hurt himself.
While cutting onions, Ritsu got affected by the onion fumes and started tearing up. Yui stops him from using his hands to wipe his tears away, so he asks her to wipe them for him, saying in a soft voice that they should act like lovers.
Yui prepares to wipe Ritsu's tears for him while he leans in with his eyes closed. She is mesmerized by how good-looking he is and how long his eyelashes are (girl, please...).
Suddenly, Ritsu opens his eyes and stares into Yui's eyes. However, their moment is interrupted when Hayato throws a packet of tissues at Ritsu and asks him to wipe his tears himself.
After Dinner
Ritsu and Yui are in her room and Yui is groaning into her blanket. Ritsu compliments her for the delicious dinner they had, saying that she's amazing. Yui answers that she thinks Ritsu is the one who's amazing - being able to smoothly pull off a lie in front of Hayato.
Ritsu says that it's not a complete lie. He was truly thankful to Yui in the past. He smiles at Yui and says that if some truths are mixed in with lies, the lie will be harder to see through - and to think of it as "not saying the complete truth". Yui answers that it feels like the technique of a scammer. However, she agrees that it's not a complete lie.
Yui says that she's surprised at how much Ritsu has changed as compared to when they were kids, but she smiles and says that the current Ritsu is great as well. She adds that she is fond of him too, but perhaps in a different way.
Ritsu smiles and takes Yui's hand, intertwining their fingers. Yui gets shy and asks him what he's doing. Ritsu explains that with such things (like hand-holding), she can feel shy now since they've just started dating, but if it keeps happening, people will get suspicious of them. Hence, he says that they need to become more natural about doing such things.
Testing Limits
Ritsu then says that he wants to ascertain how much Yui can accept. He hugs Yui. She gets shy and says that they won't have that much opportunity to do this in front of other people. However, Ritsu says that with more intimacy, the emotional boundaries between the involved people also change accordingly. In order for them to put up a convincing show that they're more than friends, they need to do this.
Ritsu leans in towards Yui, saying that this is the next step. They look like they're about to kiss, but Yui jerks backwards to avoid it. Ritsu laughs and asks if her heart has at least opened up a little. He reassures her again that her family will not break apart just because of her feelings for Hayato, and things won't go the way she's worried about.
Yui thinks about how caring Hayato is and how she is very happy about it. However, she reciprocated Hayato's concern with a different kind of affection and is feeling guilt. She thought that she would be trapped in her own self-doubt, but having Ritsu by her side is reassuring.
She hugs Ritsu and thanks him, saying that she will do her best to be a good girlfriend to him.
Hayato and Ritsu
Later, Ritsu is seen blushing to himself when he's leaving to go home. Hayato appears behind him, looking stern.
Ritsu jokes that Hayato's stern gaze will make him feel like he's committed a crime. Hayato tells Ritsu, "I don't really believe you, but I trust you."
Ritsu assures Hayato that he will not do anything that crosses the line for Yui. "After all, she's your 'beloved little sister', right?"
Hayato firmly says yes and tells Ritsu to keep that in mind. He then walks away, leaving Ritsu to process his words.
Shocking Revelation...?!
Yui and Hayato's dad returns home, their mom welcomes him back from the dining room. She tells him that she has big news to share - that Yui and Ritsu are dating. Their dad drops his coat from the surprise.
Sipping on a mug of coffee, their dad goes, "Yui has reached that age already, huh...". They both marvel at how much their children have grown.
Their dad then says that it's about time they found an opportunity to talk to Yui and Hayato. He says that before remarrying their mom, he was thinking of talking to them when they were older. Their mom suggests that it would be better to talk to them once they're independent. "...No matter what it is, being faced with such information without any warning... I hope that they won't become overly troubled because of this."
"Yui and Hayato are not actually siblings."
