Ending so soon...?
Picking up from the previous chapter, Hananoi has Hotaru's hand in his and he is kissing her hand, asking, "You're stopping so quickly...?"
Hotaru realizes that Hananoi's eyes are open. However, Hananoi falls back asleep, muttering, "What a blissful dream....", which leads Hotaru to realize that he was only half-awake, thinking that it was a dream.
Hananoi is about to nibble on Hotaru's finger, when there's a thudding sound. It's Hananoi's cousin, who has run into the living room and noticed that Hananoi and Hotaru are there. He then runs off to his mother. Hotaru is still recovering from Hananoi's "attack" earlier, and Hananoi says that he was really drowsy.
The little cousin's mother asks the boy to greet Hananoi, then she realizes that Hotaru is also there.
Hananoi's family
At breakfast, Hananoi's grandmother chides Hotaru and Hananoi for falling asleep together in the living room under the kotatsu. Hananoi's uncle tells her not to get so mad. He asks his son (the little boy) to greet Hotaru. The little boy introduces himself to Hotaru (his name is Yoshioka Minato), and Hotaru does likewise.
Minato seems charmed by Hotaru and asks if she will play riddles with him. He asks Hananoi to read out the questions for them, but Hananoi tells him to ask his father. Hotaru is puzzled, but tells Minato that she will read the questions instead.
Meanwhile, Hananoi's uncle remarks that Hananoi's girlfriend is surprisingly simple and plain. He adds, "Well, I don't want him to be with someone like onee-chan, anyway." (He's referring to Hananoi's mother.) His wife tries to silence him.
Also sitting at the table, Hananoi's grandfather asks Hananoi if his parents came back to visit this year. Hananoi answers that his father did return once during the summer. Hananoi's uncle remarks again that Hananoi's parents are still being stubborn. "Isn't Saki already almost a senior in high school? Aren't they concerned at all? Geez, they're always..."
Hananoi's grandmother slams a food bowl on the table to shut him up, saying that such things shouldn't be said in front of the children. Hananoi's uncle tries to defend himself, saying that she used to also say such things. However, Hananoi's grandmother furiously continues, saying, "No matter where they are, to Saki, they are still his parents."
She then offers breakfast to Hotaru, smiles and tells her, "Please do continue to take care of Saki this year." Hotaru enjoys the food.
Living Together
Later, Hananoi and Hotaru are walking her back to her house. Hananoi says that he had planned on continuing to console Hotaru, but it turns out that Hotaru was the one who helped him this morning. He admits to her that he doesn't feel comfortable in his grandmother's house (because of the other family members), but because Hotaru was there, he was happy.
Hotaru says that his grandmother was probably aware of his feelings. Hananoi agrees and says that he didn't expect his grandmother to say what she did earlier. He smiles and tells Hotaru that visiting his grandmother once in a while might not be such a bad idea. Hotaru looks relieved to hear that.
Hananoi then says that he wants to grow up quickly, so that he can live together with Hotaru.
Their Future Together
Hananoi asks Hotaru what kind of job she wants to do in the future. She answers that she doesn't have a clear idea yet, and asks if Hananoi does.
Hananoi says that he doesn't mind any job, as long as he can do it at home. He wants to be able to watch Hotaru leave for work and welcome her back every day, go shopping with her for celebrations and discuss what to buy together. Hotaru blushes.
She thinks out loud that other than her older sister, someday, she will also leave her current home and live in another house. "I'd go to work, live with you, we'd get married and have babies..."
Hotaru then realizes that she's thinking too far ahead and blushes. She embarrassedly says that they still have many milestones to cover. She blushes some more, thinking of their various intimate acts. However, Hananoi smiles and tells her that he's glad she's thinking of their future together.
Touching You
Pausing for a moment, Hotaru then starts to apologize for touching Hananoi in his sleep earlier in the morning. Hananoi blushes, realizing that it wasn't a dream after all.
Hotaru says that whenever she's reminded of how much she likes him, she would uncontrollably want to touch him. Hananoi answers that he also frequently has such thoughts.
Hotaru then uncomfortably asks Hananoi what their next step is (in terms of their relationship), which causes Hananoi to jolt. She apologizes for asking such a thing. Blushing furiously and looking really flustered, she continues, "Usually, when dating, people would... touch each other and do those sort of things. I know that we will surely be doing some other different, special things, but to put it in concrete terms, I really have no idea what they are..."
Hotaru continues, "I don't understand what my current feelings are about it, and if I continue being lost like this, not knowing what's going to happen in the future, I feel somewhat uneasy..."
Remember this, okay?
Hananoi looks embarrassed and says that he will share what he thinks. "What you're probably trying to ask is, if we're going to engage in sexual activity next."
Hotaru looks mind-blown when she hears the word "sex", and Hananoi apologizes for being frank. He clarifies that he agrees with Hotaru - that they should not proceed without being clear about what's next. He tells Hotaru that to him, it is still too early now. "We can take our time to slowly progress to that stage."
Hotaru looks relieved to hear that, but Hananoi continues, "...Regardless, separate from doing that, I will always want to touch you. I might even say that I want to touch every part of your body; this is how much I wish to understand every part of you. This is what I meant when I said that I don't think I can keep on being a gentleman."
Hotaru blushes red as a tomato. Hananoi says, "Keep this in mind, okay?"
Back Home
Afterwards, Hananoi and Hotaru are outside Hotaru's house. They press the doorbell and Hotaru's mother frantically opens the front door. She hugs Hotaru, saying that she's finally back. She also thanks Hananoi - his grandmother had called to inform them.
Hotaru's dad appears at the doorway. He's frowning and has his arms folded. Hananoi and Hotaru look at each other, then apologize deeply to Hotaru's parents.
Hotaru's father looks taken aback by the apology, but he asks, "...The two of you know very well that you did something that you shouldn't have, don't you?" Nonetheless, he tells Hotaru to go indoors to get changed, saying that he'll lecture her later. He then faces Hananoi and tells him that he wants to have a chat.
In the house, Kagari welcomes Hotaru back home. Hotaru thinks of how Hananoi consoled her the previous night and tells herself that everything will be fine. She smiles and answers, "I'm home, onee-chan."
